José Mateo Ballet Theatre honors the classical tradition of The Nutcracker by continuing what may well be New England's longest running interpretation of the holiday classic. Following its 1988 premiere JMBT's Nutcracker quickly distinguished itself as one of the first versions of the ballet anywhere to focus more on the dancing than on the usual mime, pomp and special effects of its predecessors. Even the cast of over 100 children who play Mice, Soldiers, Cherubs, Polichenelles, and Clara have substantial dancing roles.
José Mateo Ballet Theatre finds pleasure in returning to the traditional roots of the ballet form with its charming production of The Nutcracker. After nearly a thousand performances over the past 30 years, they have created a tradition for families in New England to revisit Mother Ginger, the dancing snowflakes, the waltzing flowers and the Sugar Plum Fairly.
Join us November 30 - December 9 and be part of the magic!
